Energiekontor

Energiekontor (www.energiekontor.de) is a renewable energy company based in the German city of Bremen. In addition to its headquarters in Bremen, Energiekontor has offices in Bremerhaven, Hagen im Bremischen, Aachen, Bernau near Berlin, Potsdam and Augsburg. The company also has branches in England (Leeds), Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow), Portugal (Lisbon), USA (Austin / Texas and Rapid City / South Dakota) and France (Toulouse, Rouen).

The Group was founded in 1990 as a private and independent company to plan and develop wind farms.

The company is one of the pioneers in the industry and is today one of the leading project developers in Germany and Great Britain. The core business ranges from planning and construction to the  operational management of wind farms in Germany and abroad and was expanded in 2010 to include solar energy. In addition, Energiekontor operates wind and solar parks with a rated output of 280 megawatts (MW) in its own portfolio.

The share of Energiekontor AG (WKN 531350 / ISIN DE0005313506) is listed in the General Standard of Deutsche Börse in Frankfurt and can be traded on all German stock exchanges.

Since 1990, Energiekontor has developed 127 wind farms and 11 solar parks with a total capacity of over 1 gigawatt (GW). This corresponds to an investment volume of more than € 1.7 billion. The electricity production of more than 2 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) per year is sufficient to meet the electricity requirements of a large city like Hamburg.

At a certain point, Energiekontor analyzed the production of own wind farms equipped with wind turbines type Bonus 1.0 and Bonus 1.3, and realized that some of them didn’t have the expected production.

To improve the energy production on those wind farms, Energiekontor requested fk-wind, from the Hochschule Bremerhaven (Germany), to study possible solutions for this problem. The conclusion was that wind turbines have to be improved or repowered. Repowering was not a viable solution and some wind farms even cannot be repowered due to denied building authority approvals.

In 2009, fk-wind presented a solution for increasing the rotor diameter with an extension of the blade, and that was clearly recognized to be the best compromise for an effective realization – RBE – Rotor Blade Extension.

RBE is a product that increases the efficiency of wind turbines. Therefore, Energiekontor has applied this technology in wind farms in Germany and Portugal.

Energiekontor is continuously working on innovation and developing new solutions, with the maximum efficiency, in order to achieve harmonious and conciliatory interaction with environment, landscape, fauna and flora, integrating a complete concept of Clean Energy.
